The End of Polio Concert

On October 28th, against the backdrop of the largest gathering of Commonwealth leaders in history, The End of Polio Concert brought more than 4,000 campaign supporters together in Perth - to drive polio eradication into the media spotlight and call on Commonwealth leaders to invest in polio eradication.

Featuring R&B superstar John Legend and Aussie hip-hop sensations Bliss N Eso, The Getaway Plan, Calling All Cars, Hungary Kids of Hungry, Owl Eyes and Andy Bull; the Concert also included an inspiring line up of speakers, including: Australian Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd, Australian of the Year Simon McKeon, polio survivor Rotarian Ramesh Ferris and Nigerian health care worker Catherine Oluwantoyin.

Live streamed by Nova Radio, MTV and Bigpond, the Concert reached more than 5 million people across the globe, and demonstrated the public support required to secure additional funding for polio eradication.

At a special press conference on polio eradication, called the morning after the Concert, five heads of State affirmed their support for polio eradication, and joined Bill Gates in committing an additional $118 million for polio eradication efforts.
